Right Wing

Home Next

The right wing assembly is virtually identical to the left wing assembly. There is no pitot tube in the right wing but I will be installing the autopilot servo and an Angle-of-Attack pressure port out on the right wing. Electrical for the lighting will duplicate the left wing.

July 16, 2004

Set up the right spar on the H-frame. Feels good to finally be starting on a new wing but space is getting cramped since I don't have any storage for the left wing.

July 17, 2004

Drilled, countersank and riveted tank attach platenuts to top of right spar. Countersank the screw holes for the platenuts.

July 19, 2004

Repeated the drilling process for the bottom of the right spar for the tank attach platenuts. Also drilled and countersank for the access cover platenuts.

July 20-22, 2004

Did a little more work on the left wing. Go there.

August 3-5, 2004

Riveted the platenuts on the bottom of right spar for access plate covers. Cleaned, acid etched, alodined and primed the countersunk holes for the tank attach and access plate cover screws.

August 20, 2004

Prepared rear spar parts. Match drilled reinforcement fork, reinforcement plates. Countersank fork where required for flush riveting. Enlarged hole for aileron pushrod.

August 21, 2004

Cleco ribs to main and rear spar. Match drilled the ribs to the spars. I used a bottle jack to support rear spar.

Match drill the inboard skin to the wing walk doubler. I drilled and clecoed it directly to my work table (old door). Clecoed skins and wing walk doubler to rib/spar skeleton.

August 22-23, 2004

Match drilled top and bottom wing skins to ribs.
