The Skunkworks

I am building the RV in half of a two car garage (Approximately 10' x 16'). Unfortunately it's my half so you can guess who's car is parked in the driveway. I figure I can build up to the fuselage but will move to a hangar when it comes time to hang the engine. I installed a separate electrical panel so I have plenty of power. I ran a network cable to the garage to connect the pc to my router and to Roadrunner internet access. It's very handy to have the pc in the shop where I can access lots of information on building from the internet. I am using Kitlog Pro software for my builders manual. Also, I have the webcam hooked up there. Here are a few pics of the workshop.

Here is a photo taken during the renovation. You can see the "wall of power". I also installed a vent fan in the ceiling and ac/heater. Insulation was added in all exterior walls and in the attic.

I made 2 benches based on EAA Chapter 1000 Standardized workbench plans. I modified them some by making one a little larger and making the top about 4 inches bigger all around the base. This allows for ease in clamping items to the top and this is the main building bench. I use the smaller one for the drill press, bench grinder, etc.

I also made an insert in the bench for the C-Frame dimpler. The top has been carpeted so as not to scratch the skins. The dimpler can be removed so the whole top is usable.

Here is a picture of the shop in action. I am going to construct an H-frame jig for ease of getting to both sides of HS, VS and wings. It will be a portable one so that I can move it around the shop.
